Spanish Mage of the Mirror and Frozen Horror quest books have been updated to fix some minor bugs. These files are huge (about 600MB each) and may take some time to download. To save space and bandwidth in the attic of Ye Olde Inn, these files are hosted at MEGA.

Added to the German Adventure Design Kit page is the long overdue translations of the quest book and character sheet. I apologise to Mophus for the very long delay in getting these online. They were sent to me a year ago. But I'm dedicated to get a lot of the backlog on my to-do list online this summer.

Dungeons & Dragons has been around for seemingly forever. Well, for most of us reading this, it essentially has. It’s been around longer than I have, anyway. The first edition of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Players Handbook came out in 1978. For those of you that missed out on getting a copy (or if your copy has since disintegrated from use), you can now get the 1st edition of the Players Handbook for AD&D in pdf format.

This version is complete with races such as Elves, Gnomes, Half-Orcs, Humans, and more. There’s all the character level stats. Along with that are stats and costs for all sorts of equipment. Finally, there’s spell lists with the descriptions and the spell’s effects.

Reaper Miniatures Bones 3: The Search for Mr. Bones!

From one big Kickstarter and directly into another. Reaper Miniatures has just launched their campaign for Bones III. This campaign’s a pretty short one, only going for 18 days. Watching the ticker go, they’re already well over their funding goal.

As before, the focus is on bringing old Reaper miniatures into the Bones material line. If you want a lot of decently-detailed, extremely cheap miniatures, check Bones out.

Here's how it works: When you pledge $100 or more to Bones 3, it unlocks a Core Set of 50+ fantasy minis, including a warrior, wizard, rogue, monk, all kinds of lizardfolk enemies, and even a dog companion. Every time a stretch goal is hit, Bones 3 will automatically add unlocked minis to your Core Set. To provide context, when Reaper ran Bones 2 that $100 pledge ended up giving backers over 150 models. And that's not getting into larger boss figures that you can tack on by adding more to your pledge.

Mantis Creations storage boxes Kickstarter

$

The reboot of Mantis Creation's second Kickstarter features specially designed storage boxes for Zombicide and Myth. You can also get multiple boxes for additional Zombicide game boxes and models, or even for any other miniatures you own. Go check it out! More info below.

The Zombicide base box has the following trays:
-40mm full tray for tiles, dice, cars (and possibly tents) and large rooms (100x100mm such as the watchtower from P.O.). This holds up to 17 tiles (9 from a base game + 2x4 from an expansion)
-40mm half tray for all needed tokens and 3 slots for cards, that you can take out and place on the table, ready to use! Sleeved cards fit as well.
-40mm half tray for player dashboards, 2 slots for more cards and 6 big slots for models (abominations fit here!)
-23mm full tray for zombies and survivors, holds 56 models
-23mm full tray for zombies and survivors, holds 60 models

The bigger pledge levels also have special trays for abominations and fatties:
-23mm half tray for fatties, holds 4x6 models
-23mm half tray for abominations and barricades, holds 3x5 models (or you can put 2 survivors in 1 slot for example)

There's a bigger double box, that holds two base games and either 2 expansions or 1 expansion plus lots of extra survivors and/or boxes of zombies.

It doesn't stop there, as there will also be an additional single box for extra models, when combined with the double box will hold all retail boxes, up to Season 4 (assuming S4 will roughly be the same as S3). And for the collectors, there's also the option to get 2 double boxes that will hold just about everything there is. Guess what I'm going for?

For people needing storage for Myth, there's also three sets of boxes.
- Myth loadout 1 has room for the first Myth game (Captain pledge) with some room to spare
- Myth loadout 2 has room for the KS1 Captain + KS2 Minion pledge levels
- Myth loadout 3, pictured below, has room for KS1 Captain + KS2 Minion pledge levels + extras, such as the optional addons and/or Acolyte level extras.
It should be noted though that the LARGE TILES DO NOT FIT inside the boxes, because they are simply bigger than the size of the Mantis box. But Mantis has been talking about producing bags that hold these foam trays as well, and hopefully those bags will be big enough to squeeze in the tiles in a compartment along a side of the bag perhaps.

And good news for those who just want some generic model storage: the 3 most successfull cases from the first kickstarter will also be available:
- single box with 4x 30mm trays that hold 36 heavy infantry
- single box with 5x 23mm trays that hold 56 infantry
- single box with 5x 23mm trays that hold 60 infantry
- single box with either 4x30mm or 5x23mm Pick and Pluck trays
Also available in a double box, and even a combined 2 double boxes with a discount!

Here's my gallery of cases, should you want a better look at these boxes. With all those new Zombicide and other miniatures games coming out this year, you're gonna need some of these!

I've made some excel sheets with model counts for Zombicide and Myth:

Zombie loadouts
Myth loadouts

Download these sheets, figure out what you own, and select the right loadout for that.
Note: obviously you can use larger slots (i.e. for Abombs and fatties) for smaller models too.

Here's an example of a P&P tray, 50mm deep, for captains and commanders. Because the tray is 50mm deep, you can stand them upright, and squeeze in 35 models like this:

Pick and Pluck tray, 50mm deep, 19x27 plucks of 13x13mm. Fits up to 35 large models.

FAQ:

Q: Do the card slots hold sleeved cards?
A: Yes, they do, for both Zcide and Myth.

Q: Where does everything go in the Zombicide boxes?
A: Most is explained on the KS page, but I'll give you some pointers on how I did it (See the animated gifs, and here's a link to some images)
- Survivors, walkers, runners, crawlers, dogz go in the smallest slots
- Fatties can go in the small slots as well, but there are also special fatty trays for those (4x6 slots 23mm deep). The wider posed survivors can also fit in there nicely.
- The huge Abominations from Rue Morgue can fit in the bigger slots next to the tiles.
- Barricades and Crowz fit perfectly in the Abomb trays (3x5)
- Tokens in the token tray obviously, as well as the cards I use most. I put my spare cards in the ID card tray. If you need to store even more cards, you can simply use a bigger slot next to the tiles, and use the foam block you pulled out to cut it to size, place it back, so the cards won't move around.
- 3D Doors can be stored in a larger slot alongside the tiles.
- Tents can either be stored with the ID-cards, or by cutting out a divider in the bigger slots next to the tiles. (or wherever you have spare room left).

Q: Where does everything go in the Myth boxes?
A: See the excel file I made. There's quite a bit of customization possible here, but start with putting the little ones in the smallest slots, then the lairs in the 4x6 half tray (same as the Zcide fatty tray, but 30mm). Some of the wider minions fit there as well. Captains and Commanders and some minibosses go in the 36 heavy infantry trays and/or in P&P trays (see above image). Bigger minibosses and bosses also go in the pick and pluck trays. I've managed to fit 11 rather big ones in there. Note: I have no idea if the Ice dragon from Journeyman will fit! Nor the Kraken! They might, they might not. 50mm is the deepest P&P these boxes have, so if the models aren't much taller, they should fit.
Now the cards & tiles trays have the option to either hold more tiles, or more cards and tokens or models. That's where this box really shines: if you got extra tiles, take out the foam and store the tiles. If you got more models, leave the foam dividers in and put the models there.
I put my tokens in some of the 36 heavy infantry slots, but you can really put them anywhere you want. You could put them in baggies and use the P&P tray, or cut out some dividers anywhere and put a small plano box with the tokens there. The card slots also work if you have room left.
If in the end you still need room for extra models or whatever, just grab another single box with 5x23mm 60 infantry trays or 4x30mm heavy infantry trays.
(Note that the biggest tiles 10x10 do not fit inside these boxes.)

Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game Epic, Cooperative Dungeon Adventures in the Old World

You no sooner set foot inside the ancient ruins than the tunnel behind you collapses. Foul laughter screeches all around you. You cannot hope to dig your way out; all you can do is search for an exit…

Join forces with legendary heroes to brave the many dangers of a cavernous dungeon. Wield potent weapons and magic. Conquer hordes of vile monsters. Discover fabulous treasures. Glorious battles and astonishing riches await you with the upcoming release of Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game!

In Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game, you and up to three friends assume the roles of some of the Old World's most iconic heroes, immersed in a desperate fight for your lives. You'll battle ghouls, Goblins, Skaven, giant bats, and swarms of rats. Monsters lurk in every shadow and around every turn in the dungeon corridors. Even worse, their attacks appear to be driven by some greater nemesis lurking deeper in the lair, and you are the only heroes who might possibly be able to stop this evil villain.

To survive, you will need to work together and summon every ounce of your considerable strengths. Scorch your foes with fireballs as a Bright Wizard, let your grudges fuel your axe strokes as an Ironbreaker, unleash flurries of arrows as a Waywatcher, or invoke Sigmar's blessings as a Warrior Priest. Whichever hero you become, you'll gain access to four powerful talents that you'll need to utilize efficiently along your journey. If you survive long enough, you'll even be able to improve your talents, advancing them and pairing them with the items you find along your way.

A True Dungeon-Delving Experience

The city of Schompf had never seen anything like it. The youngest fell to sickness a moon ago, and their elders soon followed them into the grave. At first, it was believed to be a plague brought on by the debauchery of a travelling carnival, but the execution and burning of the entire troupe did nothing to quell the problem…

Inspired by the much-beloved Warhammer Quest and its classic dungeon adventures, Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game offers you the chance to test your mettle against a host of terrible enemies, dark locations, dungeon encounters, and treasures.

Something evil is happening in the tunnels beneath the city of Schompf. The perplexed and dying city had teetered onto the verge of collapse before an unsuspecting rat-catcher named Jod began spreading tales of a peculiar odor –"more peculiar than usual"– emanating from the sewers. When he informs you that he stumbled across a secret entrance dug into the tunnels on the outskirts of town, you realize this means something has been accessing the city's water supply, no doubt for devious purposes. With no clear path, but with the lives of the city all at stake, you must head into the tunnels to investigate.

In Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game, you must find your way through the tunnels beneath Skompf and through other neighboring caverns, and much of the game revolves around exploring these tunnels by advancing through a series of locations. However, these locations are full of Ghouls, Greenskins, and other monsters. Each time you reveal a new location, new enemies appear, drawn randomly from the quest's enemy deck. These enemies then battle you as you try to advance to the next room. They slash you with their claws, rip into you with their fangs, and fire crossbow shots from the shadows.

All the while, you also have to beware the quest's deadly nemesis, who makes his presence felt throughout the dungeon, even before he decides to confront you personally or you make your way to his lair for a final showdown!

Together, Against All Odds

"Deliver us unto evil, that we may crush it."

–The Life of Sigmar, First Apocrypha

To survive the trials you'll face within the dungeons of Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game, you and your allies will need to draw upon every ounce of your strength and make quick, sound decisions in the heat of battle. More than that, you'll need to watch each other's backs and learn how to fight together as a unit.

Each of you takes the role of a hero and gains control of four different action cards: Attack, Aid, Explore, and Rest.
Attack: When you perform an attack, you roll the number of dice indicated by your Attack action and count the successes against one of the enemies with which you are engaged.

The Bright Wizard exhausts her Fireball card to perform an attack against a Night Goblin Archer and rolls three successes, enough to completely roast the nasty Goblin!
Aid: Aiding another hero allows you to add success tokens to one of their actions, to be used at a later time, and allows that hero to ready one of his action cards.
Explore: You need to explore to advance through the game's locations and make your way through its dungeons. Each time you explore, you roll a number of dice and place a number of progress on the location equal to the successes you roll.
Rest: In Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game, you will take damage. You will be beaten and bloodied, and you will need to rest to heal the damage, healing one point of damage for each success you roll on your rest dice.

To perform any of these actions, you must exhaust the appropriate action card. However, that card then remains exhausted, and you cannot utilize that action again until another effect readies the card. Accordingly, you need to coordinate your tactics with your teammates to be sure that you don't find yourself suddenly hamstrung along your efforts to slay your enemies and push your way through the game's tunnels, caverns, and underground chambers.

Moreover, even though you and your teammates each share the same four basic types of actions, the specific effects and the number of dice that your actions grant you ensure that you will play a very different role in your team than any of your teammates.

For starters, each of you has one action that features the game effect, "Ready all of your actions." This effect triggers after you exhaust the card to perform your action, so it will ready itself, too. Importantly, each of the game's four heroes finds this line on a different type of action. The Warrior Priest readies his actions when he rests, but the Bright Wizard readies her actions when she explores.

Of course the differences are enhanced even further. The Bright Wizard can sacrifice her health to gain succesess, ensuring that she can burn as brightly as she needs, even if it may result in her burning out a bit more quickly. The Ironbreaker's actions make him a formidable wall of defense for his teammates, able to wade into the tunnels ahead of the group and survive nearly everything the enemies can throw at him. The Waywatcher is an excellent archer, able to strike down foes from distance. Finally, the Warrior Priest is a formidable combatant who can call Sigmar's blessings down upon his teammates, granting them extra strength in battle. What's more, these differences are enhanced even more as you advance your characters, upgrading your action cards and adding signature equipment over the course of your campaign!

A World of Epic Adventures

The city of Schompf teeters on the verge of collapse, and only you can save it. Head into the secret tunnels on the town's outskirts and set upon a series of epic adventures in the Old World with Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game.

You and your friends will enjoy hours of tense battles and stunning plot twists as you embark upon the five-quest campaign to save the people of Schompf, and you'll enjoy nearly limitless replayability with the game's random dungeon generator. Still, even though there are numerous ways to enjoy your heroic travails, there are only two ways your quest can end – in death or in glory.

Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game is scheduled to arrive at retailers late in the third quarter of 2015. Until then, keep your eyes open for more news, including previews of the game's dungeon exploration, heroes, and legendary equipment!

Treaty of Champions, A New Hero and Monster Pack Coming For Descent

While a lot of the focus on Fantasy Flight Games might be for their various Star Wars properties, that doesn’t mean they’re not working hard on everything they make. They have just put up a new preview for Treaty of Champions, their seventh Hero and Monster collection for Descent: Journeys in the Dark. If you prefer your adventure board games more fantasy than sci-fi, you may want to check out what you can expect from this set.

Many of the fourteen figures in this set were originally released for the first edition of Descent. But now, if you missed out on that set (or just need the updated cards), they are now getting an update. Of course, this isn’t entirely a re-release. There are the new crow hags, which haven’t been in Descent before.

Of course, more than just minis and stat cards, there are four new quests included in the set, giving you more ways to play Descent.

This set will be available 4th quarter 2015, so just a couple months and they should be out.

Mists of Bilehall - Announcing a New Expansion for Descent: Journeys in the Dark

$

A strange curse taints everything. It clings to the flesh and lingers within the lungs, a poison that destroys the soul while leaving the body to shamble on. A small settlement of the damned has formed near the border, a collection of unfortunate trespassers now unable to leave the accursed land. You have joined their number, but not their despair. Ready your gear and bolster your courage; your journey into the Mistlands is about to begin.

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce Mists of Bilehall, a new expansion for Descent: Journeys in the Dark!

The Mistlands of Terrinoth have long had a dark reputation. Evil creatures that live nowhere else thrive here and servants of Waiqar the Undying have made their dwelling places within this land of endless fog. Even worse than the evil creatures and monsters that lurk within, the mists of Bilehall have been rumored to have a malignant effect, tainting even the noblest soul once it has ventured within the Mistlands’ borders. Now, tales of an undead horde massing at the border of the Mistlands have led you to investigate what noxious plots have formed in the darkness.

Mists of Bilehall is a new expansion for Descent, and it challenges a small group of heroes to travel into the darkness and danger of the Mistlands. A full, one-act campaign is included in this expansion, chronicling the heroes’ adventures and the dark deeds perpetrated in this misty realm. What’s more, no new heroes or hero classes are included in this Descent expansion: instead, the Mists of Bilehall has been configured to enhance the power of the overlord. To that end, your army swells with twelve sculpted plastic figures – six reanimates, three broodwalkers, and three bone horrors. The very ground may give way beneath the heroes with the introduction of old walls and crumbling terrain, while the evil of Bilehall influences the heroes through the introduction of tainted cards. Even the doughtiest heroes will be hard-pressed to survive in this land of mist and half-truths.

In addition, three new lieutenants join the overlord’s armies in this expansion. For more information on these lieutenants, visit our announcement of the Mists of Bilehall Lieutenant Packs!
Nothing Is Certain

As the heroes make their way through the Mists of Bilehall campaign, they will soon find themselves plagued by uncertainty. Heroes are not welcome in the Mistlands, and the land itself may betray them without warning. New, unstable terrain features are introduced in Mists of Bilehall: old walls and crumbling terrain.

Old walls are additional walls erected in the middle of rooms that block movement and line of sight. More importantly, these old walls are often surrounded by crumbling terrain, which forms tenuous pathways over the hazardous swamps of the Mistlands. When a hero enters a space with crumbling terrain, he may test either Knowledge or Awareness. If the hero passes the test, he continues unharmed, but if the hero fails, the crumbling terrain gives way and plunges the hero into water, sludge, or something far deadlier.

The heroes must also contend with the pervasive, corrosive influence of the Mistlands. To represent this during the Mists of Bilehall campaign, the overlord deals a facedown Tainted card to each hero at the start of each quest. While the hero possesses a Tainted card, his health is increased by two, but when he’s knocked out, he must flip his Tainted card faceup. For example, your Tainted card may be Bad Blood, which forces you suffer a strain every time you recover damage. In addition, while you have a faceup Tainted card, you are tainted and can only recover damage from untainted heroes or heroic feats! While the individual effects of a given Tainted card may vary, you can be sure the toxic effects of the mists have proven deadly to heroes before.
Terrors in the Mist

You'll also gain more tangible threats in Mists of Bilehall alongside crumbling ruins and tainted mists. Three new monster groups and three new lieutenants join the forces of darkness, eager to lend their nightmarish powers to stop the heroes.

You may call upon a horde of reanimates to form a wall against the heroes. These monsters fight best in a solid formation, where they can draw strength from the other undead who stand to either side. Alternatively, you may spread disease and corruption with the terrifying broodwalkers – corpses animated by a massive hive of corpse bugs working in unison, searching for fresher flesh into which they will lay the next generation of their young. You may even sight the legendary bone horrors: living masses of bone that can reach and move with astonishing speed. Only the bravest or most foolish heroes will confront these fast and agile constructs head-on.

Three new lieutenants also join the fight as the heroes move forward into Waiqar’s domain. As the overlord, you can enlist the services of Ardus Ix’Erebus, a master tactician and an undead warrior. Kyndrithul the vampire offers dark sorcery to the servants of the overlord. Alternatively, you may ally yourself with Zarihell, an elf of unknown origins and allegiances, who commands the spirits of the dead wherever they may lie. You can supplement these lieutenants with Plot decks and sculpted plastic figures with their Lieutenant Packs. For more information, visit our announcement of the Mists of Bilehall Lieutenant Packs.
None Escape Unscathed

The mists are already around you, and unnameable monsters creep beyond your sight. The only way to escape is to go forward, into the depths of the Mistlands, and stop the overlord’s evil plot – but already, you feel your noble intentions draining away in the corrupting fog. Can any hero survive what awaits in the Mists of Bilehall?

Look for Mists of Bilehall at your local retailer in the fourth quarter of 2015!

Heroic Maps releases Pyrringham Village

Starting life as a small farmstead by the side of the road, the village of Pyrringham is little more than a hamlet. Those that call it home though would say it was just the right size. With a small village store and houses for the few families that live and work here, Pyrringham seems idyllic. But things are not always as they seem...
A 20 x 20 village map depicting an a small village or hamlet. There is a village store selling general goods, and a cluster of houses around the road. The houses are furnished simply – a few beds, tables and chests. There is a little space outside where the villagers are able to grow a few crops to bolster their meagre diet.

Machinist's Tool Chest - HeroQuest Box by Whitebeard

$

I have been admiring the HQ chests that some of the members have built. But I don't have the time to attempt the perfect box (or the skill). Instead I started looking at machinist's tool chest. My objective was to have something that keeps the dust off of my painted miniatures and can be used for quick access during game play. For $65 I think I just about nailed it.

The box looks nice enough. I'll be putting a nice big logo on it later.

The whole thing is felt lined. The top has lots of space for oversized minis (two Reaper dragons, three GW river trolls, three GW spirit host, and two GW chaos warrios are in there. I also have the quest books, manuals, and a few unopened minis. I'll add some foam if I plan to take it anywhere.

The front folds out to reveal 8 drawers. The front piece also slides in and out of the way (not shown).

Two drawers are very large easily fitting all of the furniture into just one of them… so plenty of space to the Twisting Catacombs Kickstarter?

The other six drawers are small and low profile (4 shown here). All of the drawers have no stops on them, so they just slide right out like trays.

I also added furniture felt pads to the four corners on the bottom to prevent scratching my table and floor.

The only things that do not fit in the box (unaltered) are the Armory and Game board. I use a re-printed 30mm game board anyway, so I keep that separate. And eventually I will re-print a slightly modified armory.

You can find this chest on e-bay for about $100. But I found the best price at Harbor Freight at $65 after using one of their 20% off one item coupons. I had never heard of the store before, but I guess they are quite common in the US midwest.

Tail Feathers

Soar Into Battle!

Tail Feathers takes place in the story-rich Mice and Mystics world, where valiant mice and their friends brave adventure and battle villainous rats in story-driven scenarios. Tail Feathers situates an innovative head-to-head flight-battle game in the Mice and Mystics universe.
Check out some of the coolest gameplay twists in Tail Feathers below; read the rules linked to on the right for a full description.

Tilting Flight System

Snibble on Valchirp
At the beginning of each round, players set their birds' tilts, indicating their intended flight direction for the turn. When your bird is activated, it has a chance to adjust its tilt (according to its pilot's skill), and then glides on variable paths in the direction it is leaning. Different birds come with different stats and abilities, and interchangeable pilots with their own unique characteristics and action cards offer immense variability.

Send Ground Troops on Missions

Snibble on ValchirpIncluded ground troop miniatures, as well as the well-loved Mice and Mystics miniatures, aren't left behind, fighting alongside the birds and pilots! Ground troops run across tree branches, float across the battlefield on leaves, and make their way through the air being transported by friendly birds. Send your ground troops on dangerous missions each round, rescuing birds and pilots, attacking target birds, besieging the enemy tree and intercepting other mission teams! But be careful, because a swoop attack on your mission could spell disaster!

Classic Mice and Mystics Flavor

Tail Feathers comes with ten(!) custom Mice and Mystics dice, identical to and interchangable with Mice and Mystics and its expansion. Also returning is the opportunity to collect cheese and spend it for special action cards. And the Mice and Mystics story is back too--four highly replayable and customizable scenarios are built-in which can also be played as a campaign with unit progression.

Big Heavy Buckets of Theme

Send birds into death spirals when they lock beaks with enemy birds! Rattle the opposing pilot to gain an advantage! Avoid the tail feathers that fly around in the chaos! Sail on leaves across the battlefield toward the enemy tree! Set the enemy home nest on fire! Cleverly choose and play unique action cards! Between the inventive mechanics and the incredible art and miniatures, you'll be in the thick of the fight with Tail Feathers.

(Re-) Discover Lemmeron's custom equipment cards for HeroQuest!

We have a lot of talented member at the inn. One of them is Lemmeron.
Some time ago, he made made a deck of custom equipment card for his family for hero quest.

He originally was going to go the print at home route, but being a perfectionist he couldn't handle it when the front of the card didn't line up proper with the back due to home printer duplex mode sucking.

So he went the full photoshop high Rez design and professional print mode.

A summary of my card system :
* utilises the black, green, orange and purple combat dice (see here for more infos)
* all heroes now have different starting dice that serve to differentiate them all. Barbarian higher chance to hit and be hit. Dwarf standard. Elf lesser chance to hit and be hit. Wizard lesser chance to hit and more of being hit.
* magical attack or effects using purple dice.
